INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis mother still mourning the death of her youngest son last year is asking for the public's help to find a lost urn containing her son's ashes.

Christopher Morton, 31, passed away on September 14, 2018.

His mother, Sheryl Brown, says she was meeting up with her ex to give him a dog tag and a small urn containing her son's ashes on Tuesday when she realized it had fallen from her purse.

"I was meeting up with my ex today to give it to him and unfortunately, at one point in time, when I had taken my wallet out it must have fell out somewhere," Brown wrote online. "I have called every place I went to, to see if someone could've turned it in."

Brown says she left her home in Indy with the small blue and silver urn and a black dog tag inside a Kroger bag in her purse. She completed multiple errands before she realized it was missing, including a trip to Michael's and Hobby Lobby and Walmart in Avon and Walmart and Goodwill in Plainfield.

She's hoping someone out there has found the bag with her son's ashes in it and will return it to her soon.

"It's killing me knowing a part of my babyboy is out there lost," Brown said.

Brown is filing a report with the local police department, but if you find the urn or think you might have seen it somewhere please send a message to katie.cox@wrtv.com so we can contact her.
