INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works shared details and answered questions Wednesday about the East Market Street project.

DPW said Market Street between Delaware and Alabama streets will be closed from March 2020 through November 2020 for road and sidewalk improvements.

Andy Howard, who owns a business at City Market, was hoping for even bigger changes.

“I'm a little disappointed I was really hoping that this might be switched to a totally pedestrian area not having any cars in there,” Howard said. “I think it would be great if they had a strip of trees down the middle and some more permanent shelter for the actual farmers market"

The Farmer's Market at City Market will have to relocate temporarily during construction. The project is part of the larger Monument Circle reconstruction plan.
