INDIANAPOLIS — Tinkering by IndyGo with its Red Line route has resulted in a new end-of-the-line on the Indianapolis north side.
Every other northbound Red Line bus ends its route at College Avenue and East 66th Street. The other buses had been continuing to East 96th and College. That has changed. Instead, those buses now terminate at East 91st and College.
Why the change? IndyGo Media Relations Director Lesley Gordon says 91st Street is a better ending point for the route. There are traffic issues at 96th Street. Additionally, the bus battery charging station is more convenient to 91st. Red Line buses are electric and require periodic recharging. And Gordon says very few riders were going all the way to 96th Street.
The changes do not impact the Red Line on the south side. There, every other bus goes to Greenwood Mall, with the others ending their route near the University of Indianapolis.
