INDIANAPOLIS — Large gatherings of people have increasingly become a concern as the measles outbreak spreads across the country.

With that in mind, IU Health said in news release it will offer measles vaccines to fans Friday on Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Vaccines will be available to anyone at the IU Health Infield Care Center while supplies last.

The release also said the Indiana State Department of Health recently issued a standing order to allow pharmacists to assess vaccinated people who meet the following criteria:

  • Any adults born after 1957 who may have received inactivated measles vaccine between 1963 and 1968
  • Adults who are unsure of the specific measles vaccine that they received
  • Adults with an unknown vaccination status
  • Adults who are health care personnel (not just clinical staff)
  • Students at post-secondary institutions (such as colleges or vocational schools)
  • International travelers
