GREENWOOD, Ind, -- Greenwood is a finalist for an Amazon facility that would bring more than 1,200 jobs to the area, the mayor said.

Greenwood's City-County Council voted Monday evening to give Amazon a tax abatement to construct the facility, which would be located at the I-65/Worthville Road interchange on the south end of the city.

The city is a finalist for the sorting facility, which would employ upwards of 1,200 people at an average salary of $15 per hour. It is unknown what the median salary would be.

Mayor Mark Myers says Amazon likes the location because it is right next to a major highway which connects Indianapolis, I-70, I-69 and I-74.
