GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Greenwood residents continue to meet about what they consider a dangerous stretch of road in their community. State Road 135 is growing increasingly busy, and after two deadly crashes, neighbors are saying enough is enough.

Earlier this year, a Center Grove student was killed after pulling out onto State Road 135 from her neighborhood, Buckmoor Manor.  A pedestrian was also struck and killed in the same area within days of that crash.

Resident James Pope has been reaching out to various public officials, after coordinating previous meetings on the site Nextdoor.

Those in attendance at past meetings made a few suggestions including a traffic light with a crosswalk at State Road 135 at Stella/Curry Road near the Arni's. This area is becoming busier due to new developments along Curry Road, and farther east off Honey Creek Road.  There is also a large apartment complex, like Devonshire, feeding off Curry Road.

Previous ideas like a no left turn sign across from Buckmoor Parkway or medians have received some backlash, and are no longer a main focus for the group of residents.

State Road 135 is a state road, so INDOT would be the government body involved in this type of project.

RTV6 reached out to INDOT this spring, and were told while INDOT doesn't have any planned projects in the area over the next five years, there are a few options to make it safer and the department is willing to work with the city of Greenwood to make any changes become a reality.

The residents plan to meet April 25th at 6:30 in the evening at the White River Township Trustee Office on Morgantown Road.  Harry Maginity from INDOT is reported to be a guest at this meeting.

Future meeting dates include Tuesday May 1st, Monday May 14th and Monday May 21st.
