Let the music begin in Brown County

Music center opens this weekend with Vince Gill

NASHVILLE—Vince Gill will be on stage Saturday evening for the opening show at the brand new Brown County Music Center in Nashville.

The facility seats 2,000 and is located off State Road 46, just east of downtown Nashville. It will feature acts from a variety of music genres.

"From rock, blues, and oldies to country, jazz, bluegrass, and even pop, performances at the Brown County Music Center will run the gamut, stretching across all musical styles and will appeal to a wide audience," according to the convention and visitors bureau.

The opening comes ten-years after fire destroyed the Little Nashville Opry, which brought some of the biggest names in country music to Brown County for years.

Big names will also be on stage at the new theater. In the weeks following Vince Gill, Henry Lee Summer. Tesla and Art Garfunkel are scheduled.

The original name of the facility was going to be Maple Leaf Performing Arts Center.

"It was decided to officially brand the venue with Brown County's strong identity as a beloved Indiana destination, as well as clearly denote what guests can expect to experience," according to a press release from the bureau.
