HANCOCK COUNTY — Authorities are still investigating after a man was struck and killed while riding a motorcycle Sunday afternoon in Hancock County.

Deputies from the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and emergency personnel were called around 12:45 p.m. to the intersection of County Road 500 West and County Road 200 South on the report of a crash, HCSO Sgt. Robert Campbell said in a press release. When they arrived, they found a motorcycle and a car involved in a crash.

Teddy Cooley, 56, of New Palestine, who was on the motorcycle, died in the crash, Campbell said.

Investigators believe a 20-year-old man from Beech Grove entered the intersection after stopping at the stop sign when he collided with the motorcycle, Campbell said. Traffic heading southbound on County Road 500 West is a thru intersection.

The 20-year-old did not show any signs of impairment and was not injured, Campbell said.

The investigation is still active.
