INDIANAPOLIS — A new program that promotes the well-being of young women is coming to Indiana.

Indianapolis Public Schools, The Women's Fund of Central Indiana and the Marion County Health Department are launching the 'Give An Hour' program.

It's a ten week school based program that promotes the social and emotional well-being of young girls.

They'll work to make dialogue about mental health easier for girls who face adversity and challenges in their community.

"When we support young girls with gender specific programming they grow up to become strong, confident women and that's beneficial for all of our society," one programmer said.

The program is aimed at young girls in under-served Marion County neighborhoods.

The first pilot includes sixth graders at Floro Torrence School and fifth graders at Meredith Nicholson School.
