The Martinsville Police Department has identified the person that made a threat to Bell East Middle School. A message posted on the Martinsville Police Department's Facebook page said detectives confirmed the person is a juvenile, so no further information will be provided as far as identification.

In a letter sent to parents who attend Martinsville School District, superintendent Michelle Moore said school officials spotted a threatening message on the Ronald K. Bell-East Middle School's Instagram account during "routine monitoring" Tuesday evening.

After many questions from parents, the Martinsville Police Department posted a message on its Facebook account, saying the threat was to blow up the school on Sept. 11.

Due to the questions being asked, the actual threat was made by an unknown individual that claimed he or she would blow...

The district said officials are cooperating with Martinsville Police and the Indiana State Police as the investigation continues.

The letter also reads:

"We are aware and take all threats seriously, and rely on law enforcement to verify the validity of the threats. At Martinsville Schools, the safety and security of our students is our Number 1 priority--it always has been and always will be."
