Memorial Day 2017: Deals and freebies in central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS -- In honor of those who have served many restaurants and other businesses across central Indiana and the U.S. are offering discounts and free food to active and retired members of the U.S. military. 

We've compiled a list of some of the most popular ones below.

Remember: Some deals may vary by location. 

Memorial Day Food Deals

HootersFree meal for veterans and active-duty personnel. Choose an entree from the Hooters Memorial Day menu, which includes 10-piece traditional wings, 10-piece boneless wings, buffalo chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken salad, and the Hooters burger.

O’Charley’s: All veterans and active military personnel can get a free entree from the $9.99 menu with the purchase of another entree from the $9.99 menu.

Non-military deal: Chicken tenders dinner for $25 or ribs picnic pack for $40. Chicken tenders dinner includes 20 tenders, eight sides, and three sauces. Ribs picnic pack includes four portions of ribs, four sides, and one whole pie.

Outback Steakhouse: All veterans and servicemen and women and their families get 15 percent off their meals through July 4.

Walgreens: Veterans, active military members and gold star families get 20 percent off purchases of most items at the drug store on Monday.

Twin Peaks: Veterans and active-duty military get a free meal on Memorial Day. The meal choices vary from location to location.

Logan’s Roadhouse: All veterans and servicemen can get 10% off on Memorial Day and year-round.

Denny’s: All veterans and active duty military personnel receive 20% off their entire check.

Perkins Restaurant & Bakery: Free Magnificent Seven for veterans and active duty military personnel.

Twin Peaks: Free select meal for veterans and active-duty personnel.

Which Wich: Flag Your Bag Memorial Day campaign. From Memorial Day until July 4, you can decorate a bag with red, white, and blue artwork. The flagged bags will be displayed in the store before being collected and sent to our friends in uniform.

Memorial Day Other Deals

Home Depot/Lowe’s: Both hardware stores are offering a 10 percent discount to military members and veterans and their immediate families on all in-store purchases on Monday. Both stores also offer similar discounts on Independence Day and Veterans Day.

Kohls: Coupon for $10 off $25 purchase

JC Penny: Coupon for $10 off $25 purchase through Monday and a free 8x10 portrait for military families through July 11.

Memorial Day Travel Deals

Cedar Point: Guests with military ID get free admission throughout the weekend, plus discounted tickets for up to six other family members. 

Kings Island: Guests with a military ID get free admission throughout the weekend, plus discounted tickets for up to six other family members at $32 per person. 

SeaWorld: Active-duty military can get free admission to SeaWorld and sister parks Busch Gardens and Sesame Place throughout the year by ordering them in advance. Veterans get specially discounted tickets too. Admissions must be purchased ahead of time here; they cannot be picked up at the gate.

Allegiant Airlines: Free bags checks, boarding passes printed, seat assignments for active duty military, retired military veterans, members of the National Guard, military reserve and their dependents.

AAA: Free tipsy tow service for everyone on Memorial Day weekend Friday-Tuesday.

DeltaAirlines: Free bags check for military personnel.

Disney World Military Discount: 4-day Park Hopper passes for $196 for active, retired or spouses with ID.
