Miami County residents: Need a bike? Get a bike

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. -- Anybody in Miami County, Indiana who needs a mode of transportation now has a way to get a free bicycle, thanks to a new program.

The program, called Life Cycle, provides recycled bicycles to people who qualify in the county. 

To get a bicycle, the person must:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Live in Miami County, Indiana
  • Have an Indiana State ID or license
  • Have written documentation from somebody else as to why the program would help them

The written documentation must come from somebody other than the person who will be receiving the bicycle. Those people could be: 

  • Teacher
  • Counselor
  • Probation officer
  • Pastor
  • Family case manager
  • Employer
  • Daycare provider
  • Judge
  • AA/NA group leader
  • Mental health provider

To apply for the program, bring the necessary documentation to Main Street United Methodist Church at 81 W. Main Street, Peru Indiana from 1-3 p.m. on Thursdays. If approved, the applicant will receive a bicycle with a lock.
