MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. --  A dog stolen three years ago from its owners in Indianapolis is now back home after she was found in Morgan County.

The family thought they might never see Eve again when she was taken in Wooddruff Place, but thanks to a microchip and a little luck, the 4-year-old pit bull terrier is back where she belongs.

"I was excited," said owner Kate Scott. "I couldn't wait to get there and meet her and see if she like recognized me."

The Morgan County Humane Society said after the dog was stolen, she was eventually sold to a Morgan County family.

Eve then ran away from her new home and was found in a Martinsville alley by the humane society.

The dog had been micro-chipped by her original owner, Scott, and with a little detective work, Eve and her family were reunited.

"She had a collar with somebody else's address but because she had the microchip they called us first which I was really thankful for," said Scott. "Just really happy to have her back."
