MUNCIE, Ind. -- The mother of a Muncie 5-month-old who died in February was arrested this week on charges of neglect and obstructing justice.

Sheryl "Ashley" Wallace, 20, was arrested Wednesday – one month to the day after her husband, Cory Wallace, was arrested on six felony charges in connection with the death of their son, 5-month-old Jensen.

Cory Wallace is accused of aggravated battery in Jensen's death, and also of arson for starting a fire in the infant's room to attempt to cover up the evidence.

Ashley Wallace now faces neglect of a dependent and obstruction of justice charges. A probable cause affidavit released Wednesday states a child abuse pediatrician at Riley Hospital for Children determined Jensen's injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

The doctor also said Jensen's demeanor would have been "inconsistent with Ashley's reports" to the police, based on the timing and nature of the infant's injuries.
