LAWRENCE — How do you move a historic old building from Fort Benjamin Harrison to its new home? Very carefully, even if it's just a short distance!
Tuesday, the old Fort Harrison communications building was moved to the Fort Ben Cultural Campus in Lawrence. The project is part of Arts for Lawrence and the building will become the Visual Arts Center.
The building has been vacant for some time. It was the communications center when Ft. Harrison was an Army post. These days, the former military buildings are houses, apartments and condos.
