INDIANAPOLIS — The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center will soon have a new space for reflection and prayer for people seeking recovery.

A new 4,400 square foot prayer garden will be a peaceful place for those in recovery to watch flowers bloom as they, too, begin to blossom again.

Just as the Salvation Army Harbor Light Center transforms lives, volunteers from Turner Construction and iTown Church, along with Salvation Army staff, plan to transform this plot of dirt into a beautiful garden and they plan to finish the job in one day.

"The Prayer Garden will be an oasis for our consumers to escape the spiritual battles they face during their recovery here at the Harbor Light Center," the center's executive direcor Major K. K. Mathewssaid. “God is a safe place to hide through prayers. He's ready to help when we need Him. This prayer garden will help all who use it to stand fearless at the cliff edges of recovery, ready to renew hope and begin healing."

Volunteers will meet Wednesday at the Harbor Light Center in the 2400 block of North Tibbs Avenue on the city's west side. The Salvation Army is looking to harvest some more volunteers.

The prayer garden was made possible by a donation from Jay and Jan Brill.
