BLOOMINGTON — A power outage at dozens of buildings on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington is causing an issue for students and staff.

Indiana University Police say 40 campus buildings are without power at this time. The cause of the power outage appears to be a Duke Energy substation that went out, according to IU Police.

According to Duke Energy, there are currently four active outages in Monroe County and those outages are affecting 52 customers, which includes the multiple Indiana University buildings.

IU Police say students should check with their instructors to determine whether classes will meet Friday afternoon.

They also remind students to avoid elevators in buildings that have no power.
