PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. -- Possible human remains were found Thursday afternoon in northwestern Putnam County, according to Indiana State Police.

Investigators with ISP say a mushroom hunter discovered the skeletal remains in the Van Bibber Lake area shortly before 1 p.m.

Detectives are waiting for a positive ID from the Putnam County Coroner, but they say that is likely to take a few weeks.

However, detectives say they are investigating the possibility that the discovery may be related to a person reported missing to the ISP Putnamville Post on Nov. 15, 2016.

Investigators say they believe there is no danger to the public.
