RUSH COUNTY, Ind. – A man was arrested last Wednesday after police found an improvised explosive device in his home while serving a search warrant.

Following up on a tip, investigators from the Rush County Sheriff’s Department made contact with the male at his residence in the 200 block of North Pleasant Street in Milroy, Ind. and located suspected marijuana plants “in plain view.”

After a search warrant was obtained, deputies located marijuana plants, paraphernalia and an improvised explosive device, according to a press release.

The 52-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a destructive device, obstruction of justice, dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana.

"The outcome of today’s incident is the reason why the Rush County Sheriff’s Department investigates information and tips given by a concern citizen," Detective Joshua Brinson said in a press release. "The mission as a department is to continue making Rush County a safe place to live.”

The Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit assisted the Rush County Sheriff’s Department and properly disposed of the device.
