INDIANAPOLIS—An Indianapolis man recently convicted in a human trafficking case involving a 15-year-old girl is going to prison for 12-years. Additionally, Krisean Porter will spend three-years on sex offender probation, according to the Marion County Prosecutor.
"Krisean Porter physically and emotionally abused a vulnerable child for his personal gain," said Prosecutor Ryan Mears. "Our office is committed to targeting and bringing to justice those who engage in human trafficking and exploitation. I am pleased with the work of our deputy prosecutors, alongside the Indiana State Police, that resulted in a compelling case and a guilty verdict."
In July 2017, undercover state police officers working on the Indianapolis west side located the victim who was a runaway and had been trafficked by Porter for about one month, according to the prosecutor. A search of Porter's home found items indicating trafficking, including a notebook with website advertisement information, motel locations and pricing.
Searching the victim's phone, investigators found a number of photos of the teenager believed to be used in online ads promoting prostitution. Additionally, text messages between the victim and Porter showed a pattern of abusive and controlling behaviors that are often used by sex traffickers.
At his trial, Porter was convicted of Promotion of Human Trafficking of a Minor, Promoting Prostitution. and Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.
