JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -- A sign at a Jeffersonville, Indiana church has drawn attention and outrage, as many in the community say it's offensive.
The Emmanuel Baptist Church sign, which has since been taken down, read, "STOP SEXUAL HARASSMENT WEAR CLOTHES," according to WHAS in Louisville.
Many people, like Opal Lavon, say the sign was offensive to women and those who are victims of harassment and assault.
"Pretty much any female regardless of shape, size, color, race, what they look like, what they dress like, have been a victim of some type of sexual harassment in the past," Lavon, a Jeffersonville resident, told WHAS. "So it's just completely inappropriate and out of line for anybody or any entity to put that message out there."
The pastor said he did not give approval for the message and does not know who put the sign up. It has been taken down.
