The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department will have extra patrols that will last into Labor Day Weekend. The focus is on making roads safer.
During this enforcement, deputies will be focusing on impaired driving. The department is asking the public to report any dangerous or impaired driving to the dispatch center.
According to Major Louie Koch, the department just finished another round of extra patrols, funded by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and the Shelby County Drug Free Coalition.
During the extra enforcement, the following citations were handed out:
(38) Seat Belt Violations
(1) Felony OVWI
(2) Public Intoxication
(3) Open Container
(1) Felony DUI
“Conducting these extra patrols has enabled us to make sure Shelby County is a safe place to live,” Major Koch said.
