SHELBYVLLE, Ind. – A home health aid was accused of stealing money from an elderly woman in Shelbyville.

Detectives with Indiana State Police said 49-year-old Lauren Mull was caught taking money and other items from the woman.

Jerry Gentry, ISP detective, said the case was reported to him by the woman’s son in December 2016.

Mull, who provided services through Major Home Care, was seen taking money from the woman’s purse several times after a hidden camera caught her in the act, police said.

In April, Detectives placed “bait money” into the woman’s purse in an attempt to record Mull taking the cash. A few days later, Mull was confronted by detectives about the money, missing clothing and makeup items.

Mull was arrested Nov. 27 and charged with two counts of theft.
