KOKOMO —A young Illinois man faces murder charges in Kokomo for the January 2 shooting death of a 16-year-old.

Kokomo police Tuesday announced the arrest of 18-year-old Jeremiah Neal, who lives just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis.

Late in the evening of January 2, 16-year-old James Gray died at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo after being shot during an incident on the city's northwest side.

Neal faces one count of Murder and one count of Robbery. A second suspect, who is just 15, is charged with robbery.

Police have not released more specifics about what led up to the deadly shooting, and investigators have not said why Neal was in Kokomo.
