RIPLEY COUNTY — An Indiana State Trooper suffered minor injuries when a driver struck his vehicle while he made a traffic stop Sunday in Southern Indiana.

According to information from Indiana State Police, at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Senior Trooper Kyle Black stopped a 2002 Dodge Caravan on U.S. 421 northbound near County Road 750 south of Versailles in Ripley County.

Black's unmarked vehicle was behind the Caravan with its emergency lights flashing when a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse collided with his vehicle, which was pushed into the Caravan.

Debris from the Traverse struck Black, who was standing outside his vehicle, and he suffered an injury to his leg.

Black was transported to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville where he was treated and released, ISP said.

The driver of the Traverse was taken to King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison with non-life threatening injuries, and the Caravan's driver declined medical treatment.
