INDIANAPOLIS — Over the weekend, Dr. Jamie Renbarger attended an Indy Fuel game for more than hockey viewing purposes.

Dr. Jamie Renbarger, the doctor of the recently passed Purdue super-fan, Tyler Trent, shaved her head to raise money for pediatric cancer research in honor of Trent.

Dr. Renbarger leads the team of oncologists and researchers at Riley Children's Health growing Trent's cell line, from his tumor donation, in hopes of finding better treatments and possible cures for other patients facing osteosarcoma.

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies hosted the St. Baldrick's Foundation head-shaving event, that's aim was to raise funds and awareness for lifesaving childhood cancer research.

Dr. Renbarger also dropped the puck at the start of Saturday's game and spoke to the crowd about pediatric cancer research at halftime.

“To patients in particular and to families that even beyond my job – that myself and other providers (physicians and others in our group) feel committed enough to this cause to lose our hair.” -Dr. Renbarger said about the importance of pediatric cancer research.
