INDIANAPOLIS—A veteran Indianapolis firefighter describes damage to a building at East 22nd Street and North College Avenue as "pretty significant."

IFD Public Information Officer Jason Kistler says it's "pretty amazing that people could walk away" from the damaged building.

Just before noon, a truck and car slammed into the two-story structure at the busy north side Indianapolis intersection. The truck ended up inside the building and the car was outside, covered with debris from the collapse.

Kistler says five people were in the truck and one person was in the car. Just one of the six people went to the hospital with what did not appear to be life-threatening injuries.

The Indianapolis Fire Department used dogs to help in a search inside the building, but there did not appear to be people trapped.

A city employee called to the scene and said the building appeared to be vacant. Kistler said the damaged part of the building will be demolished and city inspectors will determine if the entire structure will have to be demolished.
