INDIANAPOLIS — The former site of the GM stamping plant will eventually be home to apartments, restaurants, retail and more.

Developers invited the community to visit the 103-acre lot on the southwest side of Indianapolis. Construction has not started yet, but the future development is called Waterside.

Representatives say many neighbors are already excited about the project.

"We just heard from a resident a few minutes ago who rode her bike over here. She lives at Harding and Oliver, and she said, ‘Oh my God, I'm so glad that someone's doing something with that old site, finally doing something with that old plant,’” Mali Jeffers, vice president of marketing at Ambrose Property Group, said.

The developer says phase one of the project includes basic infrastructure work like new streets and sidewalks.
