WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. – The Wayne Township Fire Department welcomed a new member to their team Tuesday – Kali the dog.
Kali, a black Labrador Retriever, was fire and rescue certified with the department during a swearing in ceremony. Kali currently travels with Jeff Owens, the creator of the Kasey Program, a national fire safety prevention program for kids.
The program reaches over 400,000 children each year and is credited with teaching skills that led to at least 16 lives being saved.
Kali is also trained in search and rescue, and as a therapy dog for burn camps.
