Woman critical after being ejected onto roof of home during crash

INDIANAPOLIS —A woman is in critical condition after police say she was ejected from a vehicle during a crash and landed on the roof of a home.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 3700 block of North Parker Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Monday on a report of a vehicle into a building.

Witnesses told police that a car was traveling northbound on Parker Avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, struck a parked vehicle and went airborne, flipping into a house.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the female driver of the vehicle was ejected through the car's rear window and landed on the roof of the house. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Two children in the car, a newborn and a toddler, were not injured but were checked out at Riley Hospital for Children.

A person who was inside the house at the time was taken the the hospital to be examined for possible stress.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
