Man Dies In One Of Three Fires

No one was injured in two fires in Indianapolis Friday morning, but an Anderson man died in a fire at his home Thursday.

Owen Holloway, 91, died from severe burns and smoke inhalation in the Anderson blaze. Investigators believe that fire began because a stove was left on.

Meanwhile, 10 people escaped without injury from a fire on Indianapolis' northwest side Friday morning.

The blaze happened in the 1100 block of West 33rd Street.

The Indianapolis Fire Department said 10 Hispanic people lived in the home.

Cold weather caused firefighters to have a difficult time finding usable hydrants. Two of the three nearby hydrants were frozen.

Firefighters said the blaze started in an upstairs bedroom, but a cause had not been determined.

Firefighters battled another fire on the city's east side Friday morning near the north split. There were no injuries and the cause of that fire was undetermined.
