Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is attempting an NFL comeback, but whether he would sit or stand for the national anthem is still not confirmed.

Earlier on Sunday, CBS' Jason La Canfora said on CBS' NFL pregame show that Kaepernick would stand for the national anthem. But later on Sunday, La Canfora clarified his statement saying that the two did not discuss the issue when the two talked late on Saturday.

"Colin would have to address any future demonstrations," La Canfora tweeted Sunday afternoon. "I didn't ask him if he would sit or stand. Our chat primarily about his will to play"

It appears that La Canfora was referring to a previous report from ESPN in March claiming that Kaepernick would stand for the national anthem. Kaepernick has not directly confirmed those reports.

Kaepernick sparked a series of protests by NFL players upset by police brutality and racial inequality.

Sunday's news comes on the same day Vice President Mike Pence walked out of an NFL game in Indianapolis because members of Kaepernick's former team took a knee during the national anthem.

La Canfora said Kaepernick is working out everyday in New Jersey, throwing passes and going to the gym, La Canfora reported.

But finding work in the NFL has been challenging for Kaepernick as many have claimed that his protests have caused NFL front officers to shy away from the quarterback. This week, the Tennessee Titans tried out several veteran quarterbacks to fill an empty roster spot. Kaepernick was not considered for the spot.
