LOUISVILLE — The Louisville Zoo welcomed an adorable baby elephant calf last week and the photos and videos they keep sharing are just too cute.

The zoo's African elephant, Mikki, gave birth to a male calf late on August 2.

The calf, which hasn't been named, was just over 3 feet tall at birth.

"We are so thankful to each of you for following her journey through pregnancy and for realizing how significant this calf’s birth is to an endangered population of a magnificent species," the zoo said in a post on Facebook the day after the calf was born.

The zoo shared Mikki's pregnancy with the public, even giving them a glimpse at the elephant ultrasounds.

Mikki and her calf aren't on display quite yet at the Louisville Zoo, because zoo staff says they are still bonding, but the pair should be out later this year.
