CHULA VISTA, Calif. — A California woman was chased by a man claiming to be her Uber driver, police said.

According to police, the incident happened in Chula Vista, California at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police said a man driving a truck in the area spotted a woman at the end of the cul-de-sac as she walked out of her front door to get the newspaper.

The man reportedly told the woman that he was her Uber driver and insisted that she get into the car. The woman, however, said she never ordered the ride, according to police.

"He followed her up to her front door, she was able to close her front door and he did not make entry into the house,” a Chula Vista police sergeant told KGTV.

After a 911 call, officers quickly arrived at the street to find the man still near the woman's home. Police said he refused to cooperate with officers.

“We had to physically subdue him and place him in a maximum restraint wrap for his safety,” the sergeant said.

Several officers suffered minor scratches during the arrest.

It remains unclear why the man approached the woman.

KGTV spoke to the victim's daughter off-camera, and she said her mother was not physically harmed but was shaken up.
