JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. — A Purdue University student died Saturday after falling into a cave in Alabama.
Trevor Col, 21, of Austin, Texas was killed in the incident at Valhalla Cave, Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips told WAAY 31, the ABC affiliate in Huntsville, Alabama.
He fell into the cave after he was tying a couple of ropes to avoid a knot and his equipment failed, authorities told WAAY 31.
Col was a student at Purdue, Tim Doty, director of public information and issues management at Purdue, said in an email.
