INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police are looking for a suspect who allegedly shot at police during a pursuit Tuesday afternoon that covered many miles on the city's northwest and northeast sides.
According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Grace Sibley, officers tried to stop a car around 2:30 p.m. near East 32nd Street and North Keystone Avenue because the plates did not match the vehicle they were on.
The suspect fired at least one round at an officer blocking traffic near Fairfield and North College avenues, Sibley said. No officers were injured. Immediately after the shots were fired, calls went on city and state police radios asking officers to be watching for the suspect vehicle.
At that point, police stopped the chase near Dr. Martin Luther Kind Jr. and West 32nd streets, Sibley said.
Police are looking for a silver Ford Fusion with tinted windows and Indiana In We God Trust license plate ATJ731 wanted in connection to the incident, Sibley said.
