Police: Man Shot At Fairgrounds Gun Show

No Charges Filed

A man was shot in the hand at a gun show at the state fairgrounds, police said.

A state fair spokesperson said at around 5 p.m., a gun was discharged and the bullet grazed a vendor's hand at the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show.

Dan Masters, president of the World Class Gun Show, said the vendor broke the rules and brought his personal loaded gun into the exhibition hall.

"Absolutely no loaded guns are allowed inside the exhibition except for on working officers," Masters said.

Officials said the shooting happened when the vendor was unloading his gun.

"The shooting was an accident, but totally preventable," investigators said.

The vendor suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, emergency officials said.

Police said no charges were filed and no one else was injured.
