INDIANAPOLIS — Attorney General Curtis Hill won't be focusing his attention on the lawsuit surrounding an Indiana abortion ban. Instead, he will focus on the broader issue of whether or not a ban is constitutional.
State lawmakers passed a ban on dilation and extraction abortions, also known as dismemberment abortion. The procedure involves doctors using instruments such as forceps to remove a fetus from the womb.
However, an injunction was issued on June 28th, blocking the ban from going into effect in Indiana.
Five states have ongoing cases concerning the controversial ban.
The U.S. Supreme Court could agree to hear a case on any of these, but for now, the so-called dismemberment abortion procedure is legal in Indiana.
