Sen. Victoria Spartz wins nomination for 5th District in crowded Republican field

INDIANAPOLIS — State Sen. Victoria Spartz won the primary election for the Republican candidate for Indiana’s 5th Congressional District in November’s election.

Spartz beat 14 other Republican candidates in Tuesday’s election.

She outraised all other Republicans in the race, raising $841,882.03 in the race. She spent $681,168.67, leaving $160,713.36 cash on hand.

Spartz represents Indiana Senate District 20, which is part of Hamilton County. She took over for former Sen. Luke Kenley, who resigned in 2017.

Spartz will face Democratic nominee Christina Hale in November’s general election on Nov. 3.
