INDIANAPOLIS — Tony and Kelly Trent, the parents of Purdue student Tyler Trent, will be attending the State of the Union address Tuesday.

U.S. Rep. Susan Brooks invited the Trents to the address, said Becky Card, Brooks’ communications director.

Tyler was a Purdue superfan who died last month after a fight with bone cancer.

Tyler gained national attention when he attended Purdue’s upset win over Ohio State last year. Since then, he helped raised money for the Tyler Trent Cancer Research Endowment to support cancer research at Purdue University.

He won the Disney’s Wide World of Spirts Spirit Award in December, and received the Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana’s highest civilian honor.

President Donald Trump will deliver the State of the Union address Tuesday evening.
