DEKALB COUNTY — A 19-year-old man drowned Sunday evening while swimming in his family's pond.
Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the drowning happened just after 7:30 p.m. in a private pond in the 6700 block of County Road 29 in Auburn.
DNR officers say Daniel Burris was swimming in his family's pond when he went under the surface for an unknown reason.
Family members located Burris and performed CPR until emergency crews arrived, but they were unable to save him. Burris was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dekalb County Coroner.
The drowning remains under investigation.
