CROWN POINT — A truck struck an overpass in northern Indiana early Thursday morning and caused quite a scene.

Indiana State Police Sergeant Glen Fifield shared images of the crash on I-65 near Crown Point showing the open dump trailer of the truck standing upright against the overpass.

Fifield called the collision a 'mishap'.

In a release, Indiana State Police said the crash happened around 10:17 p.m. Wednesday. The driver, David Chavez, 31, of Chicago, was driving north on Interstate 65 at the 248.8 mile marker when he inadvertently activated the dump control, causing the trailer to tilt to an upright position. The trailer struck the 113th Street overpass as the truck drove underneath. Chavez was not injured.

The interstate was closed for approximately three hours for scene cleanup and bridge inspection by the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Fifield said the bridge was inspected and did not have any significant damage from the collision.
