TRAFFIC ALERT: Weekend construction projects could impact travel plans

If your weekend involves traveling, especially air travel, your ground travel to the airport may be impacted with some construction projects happening around IND this weekend.

The eastbound I-70 exit ramp to the airport and Ronald Reagan Parkway will have one lane closed.

And on the flip side, the IND ramp to eastbound I-70 will also have one lane closed.

Eastbound and westbound I-70 will be reduced to two lanes, temporarily shifted to the right, around the bridges at Ronald Reagan/Ameriplex Parkway.

All of this construction begins Friday at 9 p.m. and will continue until 6 a.m. on Monday.

So plan accordingly, and maybe leave for the airport a little earlier than you normally would, to be sure you make your flight!

If you're planning on burning some rubber on I-69 this weekend, you might want to pay attention to this traffic alert!

One right lane will be closed on the southbound I-69 exit ramp to westbound I-465 for pavement repairs and resurfacing, starting Friday night at 9-o-clock and continuing until 6-o-clock on Monday morning.

There will be one left ramp lane open.

I-69 will also be reduced to one lane in each direction from State Road 37 to State Road 38.

This will happen between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night until Monday.

This is all part of the Major Moves 2020 Project which hopes to widen and rehab interstates across Indiana.

If you live in or around the Greenfield area, listen up! An extended closure for a major entrance ramp begins Friday.

The State Road 9 entrance ramp to eastbound I-70 will be closed for about two months, while construction at the Brandywine Creek bridges is being complete.

To get around this, you can take U.S. 40 to access eastbound I-70 at another interchange.

During this closure, all lanes of I-70 in both directions will be temporarily shifted to the left, toward the median, with possible one lane closures in each direction between 9 at night and 6 in the morning as crews work.

As always, safety is key when it comes to road construction, so be mindful of workers and note that speeds will be reduced to 45 miles per hour through the work zone.

If you live in the northern part of the city, you might want to listen up to this road closure that could impact getting around for months!

On or after Monday of next week, Towne Road between 146th and 151st Street will be closed to all thru traffic for 60 days, with the hope to reopen by October 6th.

This is part of improvements to 146th Street, which will widen the roadway to 4 lanes of traffic from Ditch to Towne Road.

During the closure, traffic should use the signed detour, which will take you to 141st Street, to Shelborne Road, to 151st Street.

Those who live in the construction area will have access to their homes.
