GREENFIELD, Ind. -- Would you know what to do in the event of an earthquake?
While uncommon, they can occur in Indiana. According to the Indiana Geological and Water Survey at Indiana University, "the Hoosier state has trembled in the wake of earth waves generated by powerful earthquakes in the past, and will no doubt shake again in the future."
In 2008, Indiana felt the effects of a moderate earthquake centered near Mt. Carmel, Illinois, just west of Vincennes.
Due to the possibility, the Hancock County Community Organizations Active in Diasters, or COAD, will be hosting an earthquake drill/exercise at the Emergency Operations Center on South Franklin Avenue in Greenfield on April 28 from 9 - 11 a.m.
The event will be open to the public, but space is limited.
