NOBLESVILLE — The intersection at State Road 37 and Town and Country Boulevard is a busy place in Noblesville. That's because there are so many businesses along that stretch of road. To have a light continuously go out at that intersection, drivers say, creates a dangerous situation.

Rena Jackson lives and works in Noblesville. State Road 37, near Town and Country Road Boulevard, is an area she travels through often.

"I know up to three times it has gone to a red flasher. It's always in the morning, at rush-hour, when there is a lot of heavy traffic right through there," Jackson said. "Nobody can get through, and it takes about 20 minutes to get through that light. If you're on your way to work that's not a good way to start the day."

"I wouldn't say it happens every week, but it's every other," Lacy Clark, a Noblesville resident, said.

Clark works out, grocery shops and even drops her kid off at school in the area. She's been impacted by the light going out several times, which always results in significant congestion.

"It's a four-way stop for everyone," Clark said. "Figure out who is going when, and who got there first, and it's just not always as easy when there's that many of us. There's not just four of you now; there is 8 of you. You all have to be watching each other, and not everyone is great at that."

"I think people forget how to react when there is a four-way stop situation at a stoplight like that. People will just go and cut other people off and I'm afraid somebody's going to get hurt."

The Indiana Department of Transportation controls the intersection. RTV6 reached out to INDOT to find out what's causing so many outages.

A spokesperson said traffic signal technicians have been working to fix the issue. They discovered there were sections of bad wiring causing the signals to go out.

But good news for drivers - those wires have now been replaced.

Hopefully, the fix means drivers won't have to deal with weekly outages any longer.

The drivers RTV6 talked with said the light at the intersection of State Road 37 and Conner Street also goes out often. Although, INDOT said they had not received any complaints.
