INDIANAPOLIS — A crumbling bridge on the west side has residents asking for help addressing the problem.

The bridge, near Rockville and Holt Roads, has cracked walls with chunks of concrete missing.

"There's leaks in it," Brooks said. "It's gonna fall over if somebody doesn't take care of it."

Brooks lives around the corner from the underpass that trains travel over. The bridge is maintained by CSX.

"This is a very dangerous bridge to go underneath," Brooks said. "Is it gonna fall when a train's sitting there at a standstill?"

Brooks isn't the first person to voice concerns about the bridge to RTV6. We checked it out in December after neighbors worried it was crumbling. A spokesperson from CSX told us they would make repairs.

"I don't think that bridge is safe enough for a train to be on top of it," Brooks said. "It needs to be replaced or remodled or something."

A spokesperson for CSX said Friday the bridge was inspected on April 29, and that no issues were found and it is safe for railroad operations.

"The track structure on bridges are inspected and monitored periodically each week, and any issues are immediately reported and promptly addressed," the spokesperson said.

"When you're coming under there, what kind of goes through you as you're passing underneath? Is it gonna fall?" Brooks said.

Brooks has grandchildren who stay at his house, and he is worried they could get hurt.

"I don't want no train falling over into the yard or anything like that," he said. "It needs to be fixed."
