INDIANAPOLIS — About 20% of Hoosiers don't have their high school diploma, according to the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. And Christel House Dors works to make it easier for adults to get that diploma free of charge.

Emily Masengale was the founding principal of Christel House Dors, an adult high school for anyone 18 or older. She tells me last year they had students from age 18 to 73.

The tuition is free, and they also provide transportation, assistance, and connect you with a mentor who can help you for five years after graduation.

Masengale says, oftentimes, students leave with college credits or certificates in trade work.

"Even if you are sitting there and thinking this doesn't apply to me, just share it with your network because everyone knows someone who needs their high school diploma," Masengale said.

School starts on August 12, and enrollment is always open.

The adult high school program is offered at three sites, including Christel House Academy South, Christel House Academy West, and at the Ivy Tech North Meridian Center Building.
