INDIANAPOLIS — The leader of the Indianapolis police union is challenging city leaders to be more vocal about the amount of violent crimes happening in the city.

Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police President Rick Snyder is often tweeting on Twitter about his outrage regarding the violence in the city.

"We have had 120 people shot. We've not had 46 people stabbed and 31 people killed," Snyder said. "That 166 people shot or stabbed in our city in less than two months."

Snyder says his outrage speaks from the men and women of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. He is also worried that city leaders appear to view the situation as business as usual.

"We need to see our local leaders express outrage about the unacceptable levels of violence that we are seeing because we know this, once they express that outrage and our leaders say this is unacceptable, then we know that we are going to have people come around a table and start working on the solutions," Snyder said.

IMPD Chief Randal Taylor says just because it may appear like he's not outraged, doesn't mean isn't.

"Just because he may not see emotion when he's looking at me, doesn't mean I'm not outraged about what's going on," Taylor said.

On Tuesday, Snyder met with a senate committee at the Indiana Statehouse.
