GREENWOOD — Jordan and Brooke Scherer are advocating for a bill that would strengthen the state's distracted driving law. It's passed the Indiana House and waiting to be heard in the Indiana Senate. The proposed legislation would require drivers to go hands-free while on their cell phones, and the bill has the governor's support.

"What happened to Logan, what happened to us wasn't an accident. It was completely preventable, that's where the anger is coming from. It didn't have to happen."

In 2016, the Scherer's were in a horrific incident in Florida in which a distracted driver killed their 9-year-old son Logan.

Jordan, his wife Brooke and their daughter Mallory survived the crash. Since Logan's death, the family of four has added a new baby girl, Mila, to their home.

In 2018, they created the "Living for Logan" Foundation to advocate for better-distracted driving laws nationwide.

We sat down with Jordan in his Greenwood home, and he shared why this fight is a must for his family.

Hear Jordan in his own words in the video above.

"Everyone else stopped that day — but this guy — everyone else stopped. Yeah, there is plenty of anger. There is plenty of anger because what happened was neglectful, it was unnecessary, simply it didn't, it didn't need to take place."
