INDIANAPOLIS — The search continues for clues about Amiah Robertson, the 8-month-old reported missing in March.

More than a month ago, police said the case of the baby's disappearance had turned to a homicide investigation. On Monday, they returned to Indianapolis' west side to search the home where the girl was last seen.

The search continues take an emotional toll on the community. Neighbors put a memorial together as a reminder that Baby Amiah spent time in the neighborhood.

"I've sat out here on my front porch and watched her carry that baby back and forth, up and down the sidewalk," Tammy Beatty said said. "It hurts, it hurts. I'm constantly watching the news."

The search continues at the house on Bertha Street and Holmes Avenue.

"The memorial's right there on my property. I see it every day. It breaks my heart," Debbie Howard said.

Howard lives across the street. She's seen a lot the past couple months and watched police continue searching Monday afternoon.

"Take out a white bag, a blue bag and a brown bag out of the garage," she said.

Police confirmed only a search of the home with no other details. Our cameras captured activity in a garage behind the home with a forensics team on the scene.

"I just wish they'd find that baby," Howard said.

Neighbors told us off camera they saw police digging in the back yard.

"I hope and pray that she's alive," Beatty said.

Now all neighbors like Tammy Beatty can do is pray for peace.

"I just wanna find her body and put her to rest, you know? If she is gone," Beatty said.

Police will return to the home Tuesday with some assistance from the University of Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Amiah was last seen alive on March 9 when her mother's boyfriend, Robert Lyons, took Amiah to the babysitter. Police ask anyone who might have seen Lyons or Amiah that day to come forward with information.
